World consumption of diatomite exceeds 2 million tonnes and is forecast to be worth almost US$620 million by 2007. With a less than 1% growth rate, diatomite is a mature market. The USA is the leading player in the diatomite market; it is the largest producer (over 30% of world production), consumer, as well as the leading exporter. European Union’s production peaked at almost 425,000 tonnes in 2006. This report reviews the diatomite market in over 115 countries from 2000, with forecasts forward to 2007.
