World consumption of cocoa powder is over 910 thousand tonnes (US$960 million) and is growing 2% a year. The USA is the largest producer of cocoa powder, with production of over 330 thousand tonnes a year. North America is the largest consuming region of cocoa powder, accounting for 46% of world consumption. The South and Central American market is experiencing growth of almost 3% per year. The Netherlands, Malaysia, and Singapore are the major exporters, with the USA, Germany, and France being the leading importers. This report evaluates the cocoa powder market in 126 countries from 1997, with forecasts forward to 2004.
