Summary

During 1990-95, the first biodiesel production process was developed in Germany and tested on captive fleets. During 1996-2003, the biodiesel industry expanded rapidly and a stable market was created in the country. In 2001, Germany recorded a total of 406 million liters of biodiesel production. However, with the kind of incentive given to the biofuel industry, the total production of biodiesel industry witnessed a rapid increase during the period 2003-06.
