SCHOTT Solar AG (SCHOTT Solar), a subsidiary of SCHOTT Group, develops, manufactures and markets receivers, a key component for Concentrated Solar Power Plants and photovoltaic products. The company operates through two business division, namely, Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) division and Photovoltaic (PV) business division. The Photovoltaic (PV) business segment covers the entire value chain with crystalline solar wafers, solar cells, solar electricity modules and a Si-thin film modules. The company has seven production facilities situated at Germany, the US, Spain, China and Czech Republic and a sales office at Germany. SCHOTT Solar is headquartered in Mainz, Germany.
The company intends to discontinue the upstream process of the value chain as it is incurring losses to the company, evident from the fact that the company announced the discontinuation of the wafer manufacturing activities in Jena, Germany. Recently, the company’s subsidiary, SCHOTT Solar PV, Inc. launched 72-cell SCHOTT POWER POLY 275-285W module for commercial and utility projects. In August 2011, the company announced the expansion of its product portfolio by adding SCHOTT PERFORM MONO, which will be launched in 2012. The company entered into a contract with Phoenix Solar Singapore to supply 67,000 photovoltaic modules for two solar power plants that Phoenix Solar Singapore is building in Thailand.
