Newfield Exploration Company (Newfield) is an independent Exploration and Production (E&P) company. The company is engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of oil and natural gas in the US and South East Asia. Its E&P activities are mainly focused on unconventional plays in the US. Apart from this, Newfield also operates in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM), onshore areas in Texas, and oil development projects in Malaysia and China. In the US, the company’s operations are primarily focused in four areas which include the mid-continent area, Rocky Mountains, onshore Texas and the GoM. The company’s operations in the mid-continent area are mainly focused in the granite wash play in Anadarko basin and Woodford shale in Arkoma basin. Its operations in Rocky Mountains include its E&P activities in Williston Basins, Uinta basin and Southern Alberta Basin. Newfield’s onshore operations in Texas are mainly focused in the Maverick basin, and its GoM operations are focused in deepwater areas. The company’s operations in China and Malaysia mainly consist of oil development projects.
