Electricite du Liban (EDL) is a state-owned integrated energy utility active in electricity generation transmission and distribution across Lebanon. The company controls majority of the electricity infrastructure in the nation, including the Kadisha concession in North Lebanon. Its operations are monitored by the Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW). EDL generates electricity from thermal and hydraulic power plants. It operates seven thermal power plants, including Zouk, Jieh, Tyre, Baalbek, Zahrani, Deir-Ammar, and Alhreesha. It procures electricity generated by Litani River Authority (LRA), and other hydroelectric power plants, namely, Nahr Ibrahim and Al Bared. The company also imports electricity from Egypt and Syria. It also provides electricity to distribution concessions in Zahle, Jbeil, Aley, and Bhamdoun. EDL is headquartered in Beirut, Lebanon.
