Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) is a government-owned electric utility company. The company is an independent and autonomous corporation, owned by the government of Afghanistan. DABS replaced Da Afghanistan Breshna Moassessa (DABM), the former national electric utility to operate and manage power generation, import, transmission, and distribution infrastructure on a commercial basis throughout Afghanistan. The company’s generation portfolio includes seven directly controlled oil-fired thermal power plants. DABS's thermal power plants includes Kabul power plant (100 megawatts (MW)); Kandahar power plant (15.96 (MW); Kandahar power plant expansion (8.80 MW); Lashkar Gah power plant (2.10 MW); Qalat power plant (2.64 MW); Aybak power plant (2.10 MW); and Tirin Kot power plant (0.50 MW). The company also imports electricity from neighboring countries, namely, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Iran to balance energy matrix in Afghanistan. The company is headquartered in Kabul, Afghanistan.
