Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) is a parastatal utility in Botswana. The corporation generates, transmits and distributes electricity in the country. BPC operates Morupule thermal power station and Orapa turbine power plant in the country. The corporation also purchases electricity from ESKOM, a South African energy utility. It imports electricity from Namibia, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The corporation operates transmission network with voltage rating ranging from 11kV to 400 kV. Its transmission network connects various towns in Botswana such as Maun, Sowa, Orapa, Selebi-Phikwe, Serowe, Palapye, Mahalapye, and Molepolole. BPC distributes electricity to areas approved by the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources. It caters to the electricity requirement of both mining and non mining industries in the country. The corporation through its alternative energy subsidiary BPC Lesedi offers solar home systems, efficient cooking stoves, heat retention bags and low pressure solar geysers. BPC is headquartered in Gaborone, Botswana.
