Health insurance is one of the biggest industries in the United States consuming approximately 15 % of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), up from about 10 % a decade ago. Unfortunately, as a result of the increasing unemployment rate, the number of people without health insurance has been rising in the recent years. In 2002 the number of uninsured people was 43,574,000 or 15.2% of the nation. Since the amount of ethnic ⌠minorities¡ö has passed the majority mark in more than a half of the largest cities in the US, it is important not to overlook them in order to understand the current trends in the industry at large. To assess the state of Health Insurance industry in the multicultural population of the country, Global conducted Comparative Analysis of Health Coverage among African-American, Hispanic, Asian and Eastern European ethnic groups. The study showed that the percentage of uninsured Americans of ethnic origin is much higher than that of the entire nation¨^s. The study also reveals the vital statistics for each of the ethnic groups on: Percentage of Insured through Employer Percentage of Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries Demand for Health Insurance Demand for Information regarding Health Insurance Importance of in-language information about health plans, as well an overview of the current state of the US health insurance industry and demographic data on the multicultural groups at focus.
