Additional Information
The following technologies are covered in this research:
The report has been segmented into four video server markets - Internet, intranet, broadcasting, and cable/telco.
Internet: The Internet market is defined as video streaming done by an organization for mass consumption by consumers outside the organization over the public Internet. Video server products in the Internet segment are predominantly software products.
Intranet: The intranet vertical is defined as content dispersed over a corporation's private internal network for internal consumption such as over a Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). The content could be used for corporate communications, corporate education and corporate training. Video-on-demand (VOD) applications used in the hospitality industry are largely done over an intranet and are therefore included in this segment.
Broadcasting: Traditionally the broadcasting vertical has been split into two sub-segments: Uncompressed and compressed video server systems. The primary focus of the report for the broadcasting vertical will be on the compressed video server segment. The main applications for this segment are broadcast recording, storage, and delivery.
The cable/ telco market: The cable/ telco market is defined as cable head-ends and telco central offices and include cable TV and communications providers, excluding the hospitality sector. The main application for video server technology in this vertical is to enable digital storage of content and enable video-on-demand (VOD) applications.
