Vodka is alcohol that is distilled until it has lost much of its flavor. It is a mixture of what is considered average alcohol and water. Gin is basically vodka that has been flavored with spice extracts such as juniper berries. Vodka and Gin are two of the most popular drinks in the world.

Vodka is made from fermented substance like grain. Traditionally made vodkas had a 38% alcoholic content.

Today the common Russian and Polish vodkas are 80 proof. Products sold as vodka in the United States are required to have a alcoholic content of 40% or more.

Vodka is commonly used in mixed drinks and cocktails. Some of the most popular drinks are the White Russian, Black Russian, Sex on the Beach, Polish Martini, Vesper, Bull Shot, Vodka Tonic, Hi Fi, Orange Tundra, Bay Breeze and many more.

Gin is most often separated into two categories, distilled gin and compound gin. Distilled gin is made in the traditional manner, by redistilling neutral spirits with all natural flavors and is not as highly graded. London dry gin is the most common type of distilled gin. In addition to the juniper berries, it is distilled with botanicals such as bitter orange, lime, lemon, saffron, grapefruit and frankincense.
