In the past, the cost of RFID tags alone was enough to make it difficult for libraries to adopt the technology. Today, the price of RFID systems has decreased to such a level that many libraries are adopting or planning to adopt RFID systems. The benefits go much deeper than just cost reduction, however. This report outlines the current state of RFID-based library systems and makes projection for RFID adoption in libraries for the near future. |
