Vacuum cleaners in Japan declined by 1% in volume terms in 2014 due largely to the underperformance of the largest category, cylinder vacuum cleaners, which registered a negative 4% growth in volume terms. Despite the negative growth, cylinder vacuum cleaners accounted for 66% of volume sales in the entire vacuum cleaners category. On the other hand, the new vacuum cleaner formats, such as stick and robotic vacuum cleaners, grew by 15% and 16% respectively in volume terms in 2014.
