Introduction

The market downturn has had a serious impact on UK residents, resulting in declines in higher-earning populations across the country. The first of its kind, this database sizes the number of UK residents across 17 earned income bands, from £5k to £1m+, forecasted to 2014. Historic segmentations by gender, main source of income, and across 12 UK regions are included.

There are more than 650,000 eligible individuals today in HSBC Premier’s sweet spot, the £100,000+ income band The UK’s nearly 1.1 million entrepreneurs earning at least £20,000 offer opportunities for banks to offer a wide range of services to help grow these clients, while the country’s high income entrepreneur population makes fertile hunting grounds for client acquisition by Barclays Wealth, which has a dedicated entrepreneur offering.

High income executives are a relatively small population in the UK, with 350,000 individuals earning at least £100,000, and just 22,000 earning more than £500,000

Only a handful (7,000 earn more than £1 million per year), making them targets for several private banks’ Corporate Executives services
