Highlights

In Q2-Q3 2010, the sustainability sector in the Americas recorded 457 deals worth $40.8bn compared to 382 deals worth $23.2bn during the corresponding period in 2009, an increase of 20% by volume and 76% in value terms. There has been a steady rise in total deal volume in 2010, even though value totals have continued to fluctuate.

In the Americas, the US saw the highest volume of acquirers, making up 59% of acquirers for all deals. The US accounted for 985 of the 1214 target companies during the period Q2 2009 - Q3 2010.

While cross-regional deal activity remained largely tepid, with only 285 outbound deals, mostly concentrated in the Americas, with 129 deals over the six quarters, although the EMEA region was also significant.
