3Q 2014 - Mobile Device Trade-In and Recycling Survey: Understanding Consumer Behavior
This 45-page report provides results from our third quarter survey conducted by Compass Intelligence and its Thought Leader Panel around the topic of mobile phone recycling and reuse, a growing area of the mobile ecosystem. The proliferation of smartphones, e-waste concerns and an increasing number of vendors who seek to recover both end of life phones and gently used mobile devices are all drivers around the growth in this area. This report offers quantitative detail and qualitative insights around consumer behavior in regards to mobile phone buyback, trade-in and recycling efforts, including what programs customers have used, preferences around incentives and what would motivate end users to purchase pre-owned devices. The survey involved over 1,000 mobile users over the age of 18. Author of the report is Kate Pearce, Consultant and Strategist and leader of the Reuse and Recycling Track.
