Dec. 21, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Tianjin Balitai Industrial Park (Tianjin Balitai IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was established by the Tianjin municipal government in 2006 and covers an area of 6.15 sq km.
Tianjin Balitai IP is located between Tianjin’s downtown and Binhai New District adjacent to Xiqingwei Electronic Industrial Park and Dagang Petrochemical Base. It is 15 km from the city’s downtown, 20 km from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, 25 km from Tianjin Port, and 10 km from Binhai New District.
The IP is close to several expressways, including the Tianjin-Shantou Expressway, the Tianjin-Shanghai Expressway, the Weihai-Wuhai Expressway, the Tianjin-Taiyuan Expressway and the Dandong-Lhasa Expressway. There are also rail links to the Beijing-Shanghai Railway and the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, two major arteries of China. In the first half of 2008, 11 companies established businesses in the park, with utilizedFDI of US$238 million. Infrastructure investments reached RMB 40 million.
The pillar industries are electronics, machinery and light industry. There are 346 companies in the park, of which 123 are machinery enterprises. They deal primarily in metal products processing, wiredrawing, special steel and steel pipe manufacturing. In the first ten months of 2008, the total revenue of the park’s machineryindustry reached RMB 650 million. Wanlite Steel Products, Simante Steel Pipe, Ganda Bicycle and Vertex Bicycle are major companies within the field.
In the electronics sector, 30 companies from South Korea manufacture communication components for large enterprises like Samsung. Located on the outskirts of downtown Tianjin, Tianjin Balitai IP has beautiful natural scenery. It is adjacent to the Beijing-Tianjin Golf Course and Bishui Jintai, which is Tianjin’s model habitat town.
Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
