However, global financial crisis and less developed market for sugar alcohol held back the growth; some producers even suspended or stopped production. Currently, about xx of total sugar alcohols’ consumption is used for Vc, and xx for food as sweeteners. The consumption volume of sugar alcohols in China sees a slight increase in 2009 compared with that the previous year by only xx tonnes.
