BMI View: The consumer electronics market in the UAE will continue to benefit from strong privateconsumption and a high business confidence in the local economy. The UAE will remain one of the leadingconsumer markets in the MENA region, with the highest rate of household consumption expenditure percapita (we project this to rise from USD21,437 in 2013 to approximately USD30,000 by 2017). Dubai'sstrength as a booming tourist and retail centre - the emirate has a reputation as a 'safe haven' for bothleisure travellers and investors - will continue to fuel growth in consumer sales over the coming years, withthe upcoming 2020 World Expo providing another catalyst.

Headline Expenditure Projections

Computer Sales: USD1.95bn in 2015 to USD2.37bn in 2019. The enterprise segment will sustain growthamid changing consumer preferences in favour of more mobile form factors.

AV Sales: USD1.758bn in 2015 to USD2.9bn in 2019. Strong growth in the real estate sector and telecomsoperators' convergence services will sustain growth of TV sales.

Handset Sales: USD631mn in 2015 to USD795mn in 2018. Smartphone demand is rising rapidly, and willbe further boosted by the strong take-up of 4G LTE subscriptions.
