BMI View: We still believe the Romanian grain sector has the highest growth potential owing to itscompetitiveness and its exposure to the Middle East and Asia. We believe that the country's poultry sectorwill outperform the rest of the livestock sector, owing to strong demand from Romania's population. Thecountry's dairy and sugar industries are likely to moderately benefit from the abolition of the EU'sproduction quotas in milk (from spring 2015) and sugar (from September 2017).
Wheat production growth 2013/14 to 2018/19: 13.3% to 8.5mn tonnes. This will come from furtherimprovements in yields and increase in area planted. Export demand will also encourage production.
Poultry consumption growth to 2018/19: 9.9% to 528,810 tonnes. Poultry will continue to beRomanians' favourite meat and the one with the most growth potential as the economy recovers and theconsumer story improves.
