BMI View: We introduced analysis of household income level trends in Peru in the forecast section of theQ3 2015, which clearly show a strong foundation for medium-term growth in consumer electronics demandin Peru. Rising incomes, relatively low penetration rates and declining device prices regionally willcombine to ensure robust medium term growth for Peru's consumer electronics market 2015-2019. Oureconomic growth outlook envisages middle-class incomes rising due to Peru's broad based growth incontrast to much of the rest of the region, which yields a positive outlook for demand for notebooks, tabletsand flat-screen TVs. However, we caution that risks are largely weighted to the downside, with localcurrency depreciation against the US dollar expected to squeeze demand by eroding Peruvian consumerpurchasing power in global markets. As a result BMI forecasts consumer electronics sales to grow by 2.7%in 2015, but accelerate from 2016 to record a CAGR of 3.9% 2015-2019.

Headline Expenditure Projections

Computer Hardware Sales: USD975mn in 2014 to USD936mn in 2015, -4.1% in US dollar terms. Lowpenetration means growth potential for both traditional form factors and tablets, although in 2015 we expectcurrency depreciation will squeeze sales by raising the price of imported hardware.
