Netherlands Telecommunications Report Q3 2015

BMI View: Although the Dutch market is very mature and past the saturation point in 2011, this market issurprisingly dynamic, with two new mobile operators launching their services in H214/H115. The roll outof 4G LTE services provides some uplift to the mobile and broadband markets, but essentially operators arenow cannibalising an existing audience. This is evident as the MVNO's are eroding the market shares oftraditional operators. In the wireline sector, convergence has been a key theme over the last year.

Key Data:

It appears that the decline of the mobile users decelerated in Q414 and the subscription base totalled18.361mn in Q115, down 1.5% y-o-y but up very slightly at 0.1% q-o-q. BMI now forecasts averagegrowth of -0.8% per annum through to 2019 with the declines plateauing towards the end of the forecast.

Growth in uptake of mobile broadband services slowed in 2012 and was variable at best in 2013 and2014 according to data from ACM. Meanwhile, variable xDSL growth was mitigated by strong interest inFTTH. Thus, BMI now forecasts broadband subscriptions to grow by 1.1% per annum through to 2019,reaching a total of 9.228mn.
