| The Province of Quebec has set a goal to increase the province-wide number of surgeries performed by five per cent a year. Within 2009, the province would also like to have all admitted emergency room (ER) patients to a bed within 48 hours. These benchmarks are part of a larger plan from the MSSS to motivate hospitals to improve the use of their personnel and resources. In June 2008, part of the population in the ASSS du Capitale-Nationale became the first group to experience the Québec Electronic Health Record (EHR) as part of a pilot project. In December 2008, SOGIQUE was assigned responsibility for the roll out of information technology operations relating to the EHR pilot project taking place in the ASSS du Capitale-Nationale. Once the pilot is complete, SOGIQUE will step in to ensure smooth roll out of information technology and systems requirements throughout the province.
