Statistics are displayed for 2009-2010-2011-2012q2 for these measures: industry market volume, average firm, site and small business sales, sales per employee, market volume by employment class, employment by employment class and more. Additional statistics include failure rates (firms, establishments, small business, startups). startup activity rates and sales (average and market volume).

The report applies data only from US firms which identify this classification as their primary line of business. Firms in this market may elect to identify a broader classification only, in which case their sales, etc. may not be attributed to this specific classification. For example, a report on Furniture Retail shops will not include sales data for furniture sales from department stores, which are in a different classification although they sell furniture.
