The last few years have brought economic uncertainty to the global market. Market shifts and drivers like increased unemployment rates, decreasing home and stock market values, and government bail-outs of the banking and auto industries have placed pressures on the average consumer. In this issue, we re-examine how this credit crisis affects consumers currently, how their spending and credit usage habits have changed, and ways in which they are preparing for the future.

Data included in this report were gathered using a web survey administered to 411 credit card users in the U.S. during January 2010. In this issue, we will compare how consumers’ attitudes and behaviors have changed since the January 2009 issue of Cardbeat.
