DESERTEC is a concept for making use of solar energy and wind energy in the deserts worldwide. This concept will be implemented in North Africa and Middle East by the consortium DII GmbH formed by a group of European companies and the DESERTEC Foundation. The DESERTEC concept was initiated under the auspices of the Club of Rome and the German Trans-Mediterranean Renewable Energy Cooperation (TREC).

The DESERTEC Concept is designed to bring deserts and existing technology into service to improve global security of energy, water and the climate. DESERTEC stands for a globally applicable solution for limiting CO2 emissions by a rapid expansion of renewable energies.

Aruvians Rsearch presents an analysis of the Desertec project and what all it involves for all the parties involved. The report analyzes the technology involved in the project, the benefits involved for both Europe and the MENA region, as well as what the future of Desertec is in North America, Australia and Asia.
