In spite of declining enrollment and the state’s economic distress, Michigan HMOs continued to report strong profits in 2008. The state’s Medicaid caseload increased and HMOs contracting with the state had profits of more than $100 million. And seniors in Medicare private fee-for-service plans will be looking for new plan options in the next year.
