Beijing Jingkelong has become a very significant supermarket, hypermarket and convenience store retailer in the greater Beijing area, and is beginning to gradually spread its influence out into surrounding areas, although following a much more conservative expansion plan compared to most of its competitors.

Financially, the company is continuing to see healthy rates of growth, and is sustaining relatively healthy margins in an industry where profitability is very tight. However, the company had a net gearing ratio of 72.6% as of 31 December 2009, making it vulnerable to downturns in the business cycle.

Jingkelong remains persistent in developing at its own pace, and not rushing to expand too quickly, and over-reach itself. This could place it in a very strong competitive position in coming years, when competition between the modern grocery retailers in China really begins to intensify.
