| Auchan China Auchan has emerged as one of the leading foreign supermarket retail companies in China. The company is now shifting its emphasis towards the hypermarket plus mall format, seeing improved conditions for this segment. Sales revenue growth is growing strongly, according to available financial data sources, but the company remains ranked at about 40 in the retail market in China, and as yet has failed to narrow the gap between it and the leading competitors in the market. However, through its partnership with Taiwan’s Ruentex, Auchan Group holds directly or indirectly 32.8% of RT-Mart hypermarkets and 67.2% of Auchan hypermarkets and Immochan shopping centres, making its market presence much more significant than its own direct operations indicate. |
