Automotive, Transport & Logistics (AT&L) application dominates the India M2M modules market which accounted for XX% of the market share in 2011. Short Range Modules are the key contributing modules for this market. However, a shift towards cellular M2M modules is expected in the coming years. Stability of 2G/2.5G networks, declining ARPU of telecom operators and introduction of 3G networks in India is expected to spur the market for cellular M2M modules.
AT&L is followed by Utilities application, which accounted for XX% of the total market revenue for 2011. In utilities application, the modules are used for transmitting the data collected from the smart utility meters to the monitoring stations. Short range and cellular modules both play a very significant role in this application market. However, cellular modules are expected to overtake short range modules market for this application in the coming years.
